Pilot complete: eBay is live β three months on real seller accounts
Ten German eBay sellers, seven categories, 4,800 listings with Buust video β and three findings that changed our picture of eBay. As of today, eBay is out of pilot. What we did, what we learned, and what we fixed.

In February we took ten German-speaking eBay sellers into the pilot. The condition: short feedback once a month, shop data unlocked as a baseline, honest about what doesn't work. In return: 100% free through the end of 2026, full Pro access, direct line to the founder.
Three months, 4,800 listings with video, and a whole series of aha moments later, eBay is out of pilot today. What that means in practice β and what we learned along the way.
Who was in the pilot
Deliberately not a single uniform profile, because eBay is as heterogeneous as any marketplace gets:
- A jewelry seller with 472 listings, who documented the first honest before/after in a separate post
- Three resellers with assortment turnover of >100 items per week
- Two specialty merchants with high-ticket, advice-heavy products (tools, audio equipment)
- A spare-parts shop with 8,000+ active SKUs and automated listings
- Two classic private-seller accounts with ~50 items, running full-time out of the living room
- A commercial outdoor shop with its own brand and a mix of own and third-party labels
Three pilot sellers were completely new to eBay listing video. Seven had tried single videos before and given up on the workload.
Finding one: eBay rewards consistency, not perfection
We had a hypothesis that more elaborate videos would perform measurably better than simpler ones. The pilot did not confirm that. What did show up: a simple, calmly cut listing video on every item beats a cinematic video on just the top products.
The reason lies with eBay itself β the Best Match algorithm reads engagement signals per listing. If 80 out of 100 items have a video and 20 don't, the ones with video tend to rank better. If only 5 out of 100 items have a cinematic highlight video, those 5 benefit β the other 95 lose relative rank.
This changed our auto-pipeline default: we now suggest a simple, calm template mode for new eBay listings ("eBay Classic"), not the fully AI-generated cinematic mode. Anyone who wants more drama still gets it at the press of a button β but for 90% of pilot sellers, the calm default produced better results after 14 days.
Finding two: inventory turnover is the real stress test
Three pilot sellers swapped their entire inventory over the three months. When 200 listings end and 250 new ones get created, a listing-video solution has to keep up without the seller configuring anything.
So we built a small feature during the pilot that wasn't on our radar before: automatic video reuse on inventory refresh. When a listing with the same product identifier gets created (same EAN/MPN), Buust automatically suggests the already-rendered video β one click, done, no re-render. That saves resellers real time and saves us real render budget.
Finding three: the effort/value break-even sits at 30 listings
Below 30 active listings, the setup cost for an auto pipeline barely pays off β private sellers can upload videos manually in that time if they want to. From 30 listings up, the ratio is clear: every listing day a seller doesn't spend tinkering with individual videos is a day won.
That finding informed our Free plan. Three free bulk renders per month are enough for a small private seller who wants to try the tool. The Pro plan makes sense from there β and that's also the honest advice I give sellers under 30 listings: try Free first, upgrade later.
What two pilot sellers said at the end
"I'd tried two listing-video tools before β both failed at the workflow. With Buust, I just create new items the way I always have, and the video shows up on the listing by itself. It took me four weeks to notice I no longer actively open the tool." β Reseller, Hamburg
"What surprised me after three months isn't the conversion number β it's good, but not spectacular. What surprised me is how many buyer questions just disappeared once the video was there. Material, dimensions, function β all visually answered before anyone writes to me." β Tools specialty merchant, Cologne
The second effect wasn't in our original hypothesis β we learned it from the sellers. Fewer buyer questions are worth just as much as more sales, just in a different shape: time won instead of extra revenue.
What changes for eBay sellers now
Buust for eBay is no longer a pilot feature as of today. The full integration β listing video upload, inventory refresh, auto pipeline, bulk render β is part of every plan starting at Free.
If you weren't in: you get three free bulk renders on the Free plan, no pilot code, no waitlist.

What's piloted next
The pilot funnel keeps running β eBay is out, other platforms stay open: Amazon, Shopware 6, Etsy, Wix, OTTO Market, Kaufland, and the Tier-2 marketplaces. Plus Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, X, and Threads. Each platform has 10 free seats.
Thanks to the ten eBay pilot sellers. Without your patience with the early render versions, the first inventory-refresh bugs, and the 4 a.m. WhatsApp messages, Buust for eBay wouldn't be where it is today.
Common questions on the topic
What does Buust cost for eBay after the pilot ends?+
Exactly the same as for any other marketplace integration β the Pro plan from β¬49/month includes the full eBay integration with bulk rendering, auto-embed in the listing, and inventory updates. Pilot sellers keep their free access through the end of 2026.
Does this work for eBay Kleinanzeigen as well?+
No. Buust currently only talks to eBay marketplace accounts (eBay.de, eBay.at, eBay.com, etc.). Kleinanzeigen is a separate product and not on our roadmap because listing videos play a different role there.
What happens to my videos if I end eBay listings?+
Ended listings pull the videos out automatically; Buust doesn't proactively delete anything in that case. If you reactivate the listing as "Sold, similar relist", the video gets re-embedded on demand β either via the auto pipeline (if active) or via the bulk render button.
Can I render without the Buust watermark?+
From the Pro plan, yes β you can set your own logo as an outro or render entirely without an outro. The pilot ran with the Buust watermark because the pilot package covers compute, not the white-label license. Pilot sellers can also render watermark-free after upgrading their plan.
